In 1962 Antoni Miralda (Terrassa, 1942) had left for Paris, where he coincided with Joan Rabascall, Benet Rossell (Àger, 1937 – Barcelona, 2016) and Jaume Xifra. He started to work as a fashion photographer, while also protesting against the political events of the day, such as the Vietnam War, as evinced in his Soldats soldés, works in which little toy soldiers painted in white cover the most diverse objects, such as rocking chairs, prie-dieu, tables, showcases and other elements that create an environment. These figures would become the protagonists in films, such as París la Cumparsita.

Benet Rossell's knowledge about, and interest in, cinema led him to follow and document the ceremonies of this group of Catalan artists, some of which are included in his film, Cérémonials. Speaking about Paris, la Cumparsita, he said, “It was a question of catching Miralda's artistic expression (the soldiers, postcards, parades) from the point of view of a cinema director. The way of distributing space, light and movement is my main contribution to this film".
