The original access to the Machine Gun Nest, one of the defence structures built for the town during the Civil War.

The Machine Gun Nest, along with underground shelters and anti-aircraft batteries, bears witness to the defence infrastructure built for the town during the Spanish Civil War. Sant Feliu de Guíxols suffered greatly from bombardment by Franco’sforces, often aided by Italians and Germans and also from attacks by the warship Canarias.

Climb down the original stairs to enter this section of about 50 m2. The two galleries arranged in an L shape have rectangular embrasures in the walls that dominate the bay from the jetty up to the Garbí point, at the intersection between which the machine guns were placed. Discover how defence of the city was organised during this tragic period.
