Joan Vila Puig (Sant Quirze del Vallès, 1890 – Bellaterra, 1963), was a disciple of Joan Vila Cinca and of Modest Urgell. He was practically monothematic, as the majority of his paintings portrayed the Vallès landscape, to which he remained faithful throughout his life. His concept of landscape painting came from the realism of the school of Martí Alsina, in which naturalism prevailed. The formative years of Vila Puig coincided with the emergence of Noucentism.
