This beam comes from the Romanesque Benedictine Monastery of Sant Miquel de Cruïlles (Baix Empordà).

It was discovered during restoration of the altarpiece of Sant Miquel de Cruïlles, which is on display in Room 8 of the Museum. It had been reused as a crossbeam to join the section with the predella and the panels. Originally however, the beam had formed part of the baldachin over the high altar of the monastery church.

The central face is decorated with a procession of clerics, presided over by the Bishop, shown in profile and with their mouths open to sing.
