The tradition of using pendants as amulets dates back to antiquity. Renaissance trends tended to combine Christian traditions with ancient myths and pagan customs. It is therefore unsurprising that, according to legend, Charles V used this piece for protection. This ex-voto, owned by Charles V, is considered an important piece of silverware from the time, both due to the materials and the technique used to make it.
