Pedrinyà apse

'Apse', Master of Pedrinyà, 12th century.

"Apse", Master of Pedrinyà, 12th century.

The Pedrinyà apse is one of the best examples of mural painting on display in the museum. Dated some time between the 17th and 18th centuries, it is made of three scenes. The vault is dominated by Christ in Majesty surrounded by the symbols of the four evangelists. Below are successive scenes showing the Mystery of the Incarnation: the Annunciation, the Visitation, birth and the Annunciation to the Shepherds.
