Rafael Atché is the sculptor of the work that crowns the monument of Christopher Columbus, designed by the engineer Gaietà Buïgas i Monravà, one of the leading Catalan Modernist architects and active in the first urban expansion of Cerdanyola. He also designed many summer houses, the casino-theatre and current headquarters of the MAC-Museum of Art of Cerdanyola and the renovation of the Castle of Sant Marçal.
