In the Greek world, ares or altars were related to temples and other places of worship. This particular piece is made of Pentelic marble (Attica, Greece) and conserves barely visible remains of polychrome. It was found in the main room of a porticoed house on the Mas Castellar site, together with other elements related to rituals, making it exceptional in terms of the place where it was discovered, on private premises, and the fact that it is a Greek piece of great quality.
