This small ceramic water bottle or flask comes from St Mina’s shrine (Karm Abu Mina, Egypt). The neck and both handles are missing from this piece. The front depicts St Mina with his arms open and wearing a short tunic, flanked by two dromedaries that lick his feet. The reverse side features a three-line Greek inscription inside a floral corona: ‘ΑΓΙΟΥ ΜΗΝΑ ΕΥΛΟΓ’ (‘Blessing of St Mina’). The importance of this piece lies in its origins and because there are few examples known in Europe.
