This is an Attic krater with little columns and red figures attributed to the artist known as the Painter from Agrigento (460-450 BC). It was the kind of receptacle which the Greeks used to mix water with wine before serving it, since it was never drunk alone. This specimen, crafted in the ceramic studios of Athens, reached Empòrion via sea trade. It boasts extraordinary quality and is brimming with decorative details. The figurative decoration in the central part stands out, with a scene on either side.
