Bronze sculpture of 28x36x15 centimeters. It's a female nude representing Cleopatra just before committing suicide, as we can tell from the asp coiled at her feet waiting to bite and poison her.

This piece makes symbolic reference to the historical context of the time: the loss of the Spanish overseas. The profound sense of defeat and humiliation breathed by this sculpture was, however, soon overcome by its maker, whose work, the following year, would take on a more life-affirming spirit, a vitality which would endure with him for the rest of his career.
