This capital of a pillar may be all that is left of the Romanesque church of Santa Maria de Tàrrega.
The subject of the stone carvings is the transformation of Aaron’s rod into a snake (Exodus 7, 8-13). The technique employed and the finish achieved show that it is the work of a sculptor immersed in the artistic currents of the 1200s, who was working in a stylistic vein closely resembling that of the sculptor Ramon de Bianya.
