Casa Duran i Sanpere in Cervera is a great example of a Catalan bourgeois house from the late 19th century. Crossing the threshold, walking around the rooms, observing the layout and enjoying the decorative objects provides a great deal of information about the times, especially about interior decorating and the production of consumer goods, in addition to helping us understand certain aspects of the everyday life of its inhabitants. The house is like a document transporting the visitor to the Catalonia of more than a century ago, making it possible to imagine how the members of the family related to each other and to other people, and to learn about the values and manners directing their daily tasks.

A walk around the reception rooms, with their large open spaces decorated to be shown in society, helps us understand a lineage - the Durans - deeply rooted in the political and social life of the city. The most intimate spaces of the house, such as the private chapel, and also the most functional ones, like the dining room, office and kitchen, tell us about family relationships and the lifestyle of the time, and of the transformations over the years when the house was inhabited.
