Measuring instrument from the 19th century consisting of a horizontal bar with rings at the end. Two pieces of white cord are tied to a pair of pieces of flat wood on which the weights were placed. The scales were donated to the Museum and Municipal Archive of Calella by a local family. This piece indicates how important transatlantic trade was to the town and the whole coastal region, alongside the industrial activity centred on textiles.
