Patera, Museum of the History of Immigration in Catalonia Collection.

A patera is a small uncovered wooden boat. To this day, the patera has become synonymous with immigration in the Mediterranean, from Africa and Asia to the nearest coasts. At present, other types of pateras are used, such as inflatable rafts, and wooden ones are less often used. Images of pateras circulate daily in the media and are already part of the migratory heritage of the 21st century.
