The Santa Cristina Procession, pintor Joan Llaverias i Labró, oil. Masia de Can Saragossa. Maritime Museum of Lloret de Mar.

Exhibition of a collection of drawings, oil paintings and watercolours by Joan Llaverias i Llabró (Vilanova i la Geltrú, 1865 - Lloret de Mar, 1938).

Llaverias was undeniably a master in therendering of animals, which he caricaturised with a charm that endowed them almost with human characteristics, while also excelling in satirical drawings, especially of a political nature. He was also a great story illustrator.

The artist came to Lloret around 1905, attracted by its landscapes, and settled here permanently each summer from 1914 onwards. The Civil War caught him in Lloret, where he died on November 18 1938. The admiration of the people of the town and their indelible memories of both Llaverias and his family induced them to create a permanent memorial to him.
