This reconstruction of a Neanderthal man has become the newest icon of the museum. Made by Palaeoartist Ramon Lopez from Quagga, it is a hyper-realistic polyester resin translucent sculpture with hair. Model made of moulded clay with silicone, oil paints and glass eyes.

The process of making the sculpture is a painstaking reconstruction and always done under the advisement of palaeontologists: first a sketch is made, then a 1:10 scale model in resin, and then, once validated by the researcher, a full scale model is made and finally it is painted.
