"The Foundation is a space open to culture and life." Joan Miró
The Joan Miró Foundation is a living centre open to the world, to discovering and exploring the work of Miró and other artists. It is a place for participation and dialogue between ideas and artistic disciplines, a space designed by Joan Miró with the desire to bring art to everyone.
The Foundation building, one of the city’s cultural icons, is a space in which the boundaries between art, architecture and landscape are blurred. And it is the outcome of the friendship of two unique creators: the architect Josep Lluís Sert and Joan Miró.
The Foundation collection offers a journey through the different stages in the career of Joan Miró and all the techniques with which he worked. It is one of the most comprehensive collections of Miró's work worldwide.
