The Bohera lifeboat went out to sea powered by five oarsmen on each side and, if necessary, by its three sails. The Sant Feliu de Guixols rescue brigade consisted of a skipper, eleven oarsmen and another group of men who stayed on land to fire the line launchers and communicate with the boat in danger using signals. These people were not sailors, but townspeople, local cork cutters, farmers, etc., who were always on call if needed.
