This collada, a wooden yoke, was used to carry two big cans of water at a time home from the public fountain. Écomusée des Valls d'Àneu.

The yoke was intended to make the daily task of carrying water easier. The constant trips to the public fountain, as well as tending the farmyard livestock were among the many outdoor jobs that fell to women’s lot. If the men were in range of home, the women brought them their food, and assisted them with the work. Women could do and did many of the men’s jobs, but this did not usually happen the other way round.
