The two manikins represent characters from the court of the Qing dynasty.

The man has a plait made of natural hair which reaches his waist and the woman wears her hair gathered up and adorned by a golden diadem decorated with pearls and stones imitating jade (the symbol of purity), value and wisdom.

The garments of the two figures are embroidered with silk and gold thread, with depictions of dragons, clouds and flowers symbolizing happiness, immortality and power.
