The centre is given over to the history of the shacks. It takes us on a historical and cultural itinerary through this unique, millennial vernacular architecture, regarded as a symbol of the territory.
These buildings, made of materials found in the area, were the homes of the inhabitants of the flat lands of the Delta for centuries. We learn about this valuable architectural heritage through models, original objects, photographs and audiovisuals.
In a multi-purpose side room, there is a collection of birds from the Delta and an audiovisual is projected on the shacks’ characteristics and construction techniques. At the rear of the building there is a life-size reproduction of a shack, which enables us to see how people lived in these houses.
