Fumanya is the largest European site with sauropod prints from the Late Cretaceous, and one of the most important in the world. In 2005 the paleontological site at Fumanya was declared a National Cultural Site by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia.
The group of sites at Fumanya includes Fumanya South, Esquirol Mine, Fumanya North and Tumí Mine, to which should be added the sites in the Berga district at Cingles del Boixader, Peguera, el Portet, Font Bullidor and Mirador de Vallcebre.
