La Pauma Museum in Mas de Barberans was opened in May 2010. It has two permanent exhibition rooms: one explains the palm-working process from the plant (palmetto) to the finished item, and the other extends the territorial scope to all the towns and villages of Els Ports Natural Park to give information about the social aspects of the activity.
At the museum you can participate in palm (palmetto) and other plant fibre weaving workshops and you can see exhibitions of our own items and others on loan, as well as handicraft demonstrations. On the first weekend in August you can enjoy the activities organised for the Monographic Fibres Fair. The audiovisual entitled La Bruixa Palmira (“Palmira the Witch”) audiovisual is also an enjoyable experience.
An important complement to the museum is the “Plant Fibre Corner”, a didactic area focusing on the vegetable fibres used by humankind for different purposes –tinctorial plants, basketwork, etc.– with the palmetto at centre stage.
All areas are suitable for wheelchairs and there are Spanish and English translations of the texts.

By car:
If you’re coming from Lleida and the north, drive south along the Eix de l'Ebre (C-12) to Tortosa.
If you’re coming from Tarragona or Barcelona, take the Tortosa/Aldea or Amposta exits from the AP7 motorway.
If you’re coming from the south (València and Castelló) you can go via Ulldecona, Sant Rafael del Riu and La Sénia.
How to get to the town:
- From the north-east: To Tortosa and at the "Plaça del Bimil·lenari" roundabout take the turning to the C-12 Amposta/Lleida road. Cross the Mil·lenari bridge over the Ebro and continue straight on in the direction of Raval de Crist (second exit on the "Els Nusos" roundabout). After passing through the middle of the Raval de Crist quarter you come to a small roundabout with three olive trees. Here you have to make a 3/4 turn and take the TV-3421 road that will take you directly to Mas de Barberans (16 km – 20 min).
- From the east: To Amposta and take the Amposta to Masdenverge road (T-344). Pass through Masdenverge and continue straight on the Amposta to Santa Bàrbara road (T-350). When you reach Santa Bàrbara, skirt the town to the left. At the first roundabout, take the turnoff in the direction of Ulldecona/La Sénia. At the following roundabout, take the turnoff in the direction of La Galera/La Sénia/Godall. At the third roundabout, take the turnoff to Mas de Barberans. Continue on the TV-1025 until you reach the town (25 km - 25 mins). See the route map.
- From the south: To La Sénia; to the south of the town there is a turnoff to the TV-3421 Mas de Barberans road (15 km – 20 mins). See route map.
