Manolo Hugué (Barcelona, 1872 - Caldes de Montbui, 1945) designed the model of the piece, which was then sculpted by local stonemasons. It was completed in the final stages of the life of the sculptor, a very creative moment for the artist, whose complicated, delicate health prevented him from working directly with the stone. The work reminds us of the work of a farmer and the cultivation of the poetry. It was completed in 1945 to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the poet. It bears the following inscription:

“One day I eagerly sowed the swarms of golden rye in my father's fields; later, heeding the Catalan Muse, I went on sowing, but now I sowed in the heart."
