This room, named after Hernán Cortés, exhibits tempera mural paintings from the early 19th century attributed to Josep Arrau i Estrada (Barcelona, 1774-1818). The paintings on canvas bolted to the ceiling beams portray the god Mars and the goddess Ceres.
Six figurative wall panels depict scenes from the conquest of Mexico by Hernán Cortés. Written legends describe each scene. The panels are framed by architectural motifs and false marble.
