Painting by Armand Cardona Torrandell (Barcelona, 1928 - Sant Pere de Ribes, 1995) from his informalist period, which is characterised by simplification of the colour range, consisting primarily of neutral tones, especially greys. The work depicts a set of human figures in the kind of disturbing space characteristic of an existentialist view of the human condition, shared by many catalan informalist artists.
Though Cardona Torrandell almost never renounced figurative art, the oeuvre corresponding to this period reveals highly matter-like textures and the use of spatialist treatment.
