This moulding in the first Pompeian style decorated one of the main rooms of the Roman settlement at Mons Observans. It was discovered in 2010, together with 80 more fragments of stucco and mouldings that had been preserved for 2,000 years in the interior of the cisterns of thepraesidium. It was made using the stucco technique with a mixture of lime, sand and powdered marble. The decoration with gallons and dentils is typical of the first Pompeian style, with parallels in the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum (Italy).
