Fan tile. Tile decorated with a series of lines which converge at one point, creating a fan shape.

Tile makers created items to be used in building and construction. These products bring us closer to lifestyles from a world that valued the strength and solidity of things, designed to cope with the weather, blows from livestock, and heavy weight. The tile work is characterised by square and rectangular shapes, which vary in thickness and are undecorated; when there is any decoration, such as for these "fan" tiles, it was for a strictly functional purpose.
