Bust - probably funerary - with the portrait of an unknown lady of Tarraco, 2nd century AD, m Luni-Carrara marble, 33 x 19 x 26.5 cm.

This is probably the posthumous portrait of an unknown lady and was found in the residential area of Tarraco.
It is notable for the elaborate hairstyle, which resembles that of Faustina the Elder, wife of Antonius Pius. This dependence on thefashion introduced by the Emperor’s wife contrasts with the individuality of the features, which is a realistic portrait of a mature woman who was surely a member of the Tarraco upper class.
