Marededéu del Roser altarpiece, from the church of Sant Martí in Riner (Solsonès), seventeenth century.

This altarpiece of the Marededéu del Roser (Mother of God of the Rose and the Rosary) is attributed to Pedro Fernández, and was made some time between 1625 and 1640. It is in very good condition and represents a type of altarpiece which is now rare in Catalonia, since many sacred objects of this sort were destroyed during the Civil War. In the central part there is a niche with the image of the Virgin, and around it, scenes from the joyful and sorrowful mysteries of the rosary. This polychrome wooden carving is Renaissance in transition to the Baroque in style.
