The Catalan poet, playwright and plastic artist Joan Brossa (1919-1998) was always highly attracted towards the world of toys and felt a special fascination for magic, sleight of hand, conjury and transvestism. Perhaps this explains the bond of friendship and collaboration he had with the Museum.  Brossa donated many of the toys he had collected throughout his life to the Museum. In his words:  "Life follows its own course. It rises and falls, it organises and disorganises efforts. Sometimes it's a window, sometimes it's a mirror. Games, magic, theatre, film and poetry are all part of this necessary illusion we call art".
