Sugranyes Kiln

The Sugranyes kiln, which produced building materials for over a hundred years.

The Sugranyes kiln, which produced building materials for over a hundred years.

The kiln at Sugranyes was used from the mid-19th century until the 1960s to make building materials (bricks, roof tiles, wall tiles, etc.), and has been restored through a project financed in part by FEDER funds. It is a construction catalogued as architectural heritage by the Ministry of Culture (1979) and the Culture Department (1982), and has been identified as one of the hundred outstanding elements of Catalan industrial heritage by the Association of the Museum of Science, Technology and Industrial Archaeology of Catalonia.

At present the space hosts a modest exhibition on the history of ceramics, from the Neolithic to the present day, with a display of ceramic objects that highlight the different uses that have been made of it.
