Sean Scully (Dublin, 1945), an American painter with Irish roots, is one of the top exponents of contemporary international painting. He has an expressionistic and abstract style that is highly prized all over the world because of its strong yet delicate sensibility. Scully, who alternates between his homes in Barcelona, Munich and New York, has a cordial relationship with the monastery of Montserrat, and in 2010 he gave the museum this work which is named after his son Oisin. His intervention in Santa Cecília church was officially unveiled in 2015, where the artist inserted his works into this millennium-old Romanesque church.
