This altar front, which comes from the former collegiate church of Santa Maria la Blanca in Berbegal, stands out for the great skill of the craftsman who made it. This is a work that represents the Byzantine current that brought a new style to painting in both Catalonia and Aragon in around 1200.

Its relationship with the European artistic context can be explained by the proximity of the monastery of Sixena, which had workers from beyond the Pyrenees in those years. These artists rendered such emblematic works as the paintings in the chapterhouse of the same monastery, which are stylistically very close to the Berbegal altar front.
