Optotype. The Cercs Mines Museum.

An optotype is a poster containing little squares with openings on different sides of the square, numbers, letters and Roman numerals, etc. Doctors used them for eyesight exams. This one has a switch on the right hand side to illuminate it. This optotype illustrates the level of illiteracy of the population at that time as well, because there are no letters or numbers on it.
