Besides Adolphe Sax in Belgium, Andrés Vidal in Barcelona experimented with the creation of a metal bassoon, a double-reed traditionally woodwind instrument with a deep, low sound. While Vidal’s instrument, preserved in the Museum, proved to be perfectly viable, problems with patents cut its future short.
