Terra sigillita ceramic piece with the image of a woman playing the lyre

One of the most important and emotive pieces in the Museum is this terra sigllata ceramic fragment. It was produced in Arezzo, Italy, and  reached the Camp de la Gruta, one of the most important local Roman sites, by sea two thousand years ago. One of the main features of this piece is the small relief of a woman playing the lyre. This instrument, the sound of which exudes Mediterraneanism, travelled with the Romans throughout the Mediterranean.
