Trepanned skull, Neolithic period (5600-5400 BC). Site: Prehistoric Mines of Gavà (Gavà)

Skull of a man aged 30 to 40, with two trepannations into the left parietal lobe, performed by abrasion while the patient was alive. The patient lived for six months after the operation, and was buried in the collective tomb in mineshaft 28.
