The last commissioned work by the sculptor Julio Antonio is a funeral monument for one of the family’s children, who died aged 11. The body of the youngster sculpted in marble contrasts with his mother’s soothing bronze figure placed behind him.
This work was never installed by the youngster’s tomb, and in 1940 the Lemonier family left it to the Madrid Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art, from where it went to the San Telmo Museum in San Sebastián, where it was purchased by Tarragona Provincial Council.
