Bronze axe

Bronze axe, (Ripoll), 900-800 BC.

Bronze axe, (Ripoll), 900-800 BC.

The artefacts from Ripoll were discovered in a hiding place in the countryside in Pla d'en Pere, two kilometres north of Ripoll. The artefacts include fourteen very worn bronze items, eleven of which are axes from different eras and regions, as well as a spearhead, a chisel and a metal ring.

This axe comes from the Central Mediterranean, but it was originally from the French Atlantic. It is dated between 900 and 800 BC, while the artefacts found in Ripoll were hidden there before 850 BC.
