Silk tapins from the end of the 19th or early 20th centuries

Satin women’s shoes, lined in black silk, leather with a cork inner sole. They have a black ribbon to fasten the shoes with a bow.

Tapins were shoes typically worn by adult or married women. The tapins at the MATBC, as indicated by the label handwritten by Tomàs Balvey, were first worn by the grandmother of the donor’s wife on her wedding day.
