Made of wood and metal, there are two parts to this device for making pills: a rectangular wooden base with a fluted metal plate, and a long wooden handle for pressing it. The handle moved over the main part where the mixture was deposited, which was then cut into equal parts. The mixture was a medicinal paste in the form of a long thin roll. This was a simple way for the Barri pharmacy to make the pills that its clients needed.
