At that time, Miró was interested in simplifying forms over white backgrounds as much as possible. His signic language is consolidated. Precise strokes coexist with expressive strokes. The woman becomes paramount.

In this work, the woman stretches her neck to try to connect with the celestial world with the help of a ladder (the Ladder of Escape) on the left, an escape into the world of poetry and dreams.

Miró used colour to highlight the sex and breasts of the character. Around her appear stars, birds and planets that contribute to the dynamic effect of the composition.
